SOS news press conference today 11am at FXI
The Save our SABC (SOS) Coalition has welcomed the communication minister's invitation to discuss a review of broadcasting policy in Pretoria tomorrow, Friday, 2 September 2011, and is calling on friends, associates and the media to attend a press conference today at 11am at the FXI Institute

In November 2011 the minister of communications withdrew the controversial Draft Public Service Broadcasting Bill and promised to launch a comprehensive, public broadcasting policy review process. The SOS Coalition commended the ministry on this decision and had been calling on the ministry to launch the review.
Now that the ministry has called the coalition's working group to a meeting in Pretoria on Friday afternoon to discuss the review, the working group at today's press conference will be putting forward their views on the key issues that need to be covered and the process it feels "should be followed to ensure that the review ultimately culminates in new broadcasting laws that strengthen the SABC and community media to broadcast quality, independent, citizen-orientated programming that deepens the goals of our Constitution".
Date: Thursday, 1 September 2011
Venue: Freedom of Expression Institute, 27 Lothbury Ave, Auckland Park (opposite old Melville post office.)
Time: 11am
RSVP urgently to Kate Skinner via az.oc.bewm@renniks.etak or cell +27 (0)82 926 6404.
