Info' bill on hold, again
NEWSWATCH: The Protection of Information bill is on hold again, this time because the ANC apparently wants to think about including the military and police in the law's ambit, reports Times Live. Meanwhile, the Sowetan has apologised to DA leader Helen Zille after telling her to 'come clean', and the US is 'very concerned' about the four journalists, one of them a South African, held in Libya, reports IOL. Finally, Joe Latakgomo, is Avusa Media's new public editor, reports the Sowetan.
For more:
- Times Live: Info bill delayed again... Just suppose the military and the police are included, and just suppose this bill was already in force... What would we have heard about Andries Tatane and how he died?
- Sowetan: Apology to Zille... 'The office of the Press Ombudsman last week ruled against Sowetan and ordered us to apologise, on our front page, to Democratic Alliance leader and premier of Western Cape Helen Zille for an editorial we published on January 28, as well as for a poster,' says the Sowetan.
- IOL: Four journalists still held in Libya... Clare Morgana Gillis, of the TheAtlantic.com, James Foley, a freelance reporter with GlobalPost.com, Spanish photographer Manu Brabo, and Anton Hammerl, a South African photographer, went missing on April 4 in eastern Libya. Well, perhaps the US can get them released.
- Sowetan: Avusa Media announces new public editor... All the best, Joe Latakgomo; enjoy your new role.
