SABC opens discussions with SAFA, dismisses political editor
The SABC and the South African Football Association (SAFA) met on Thursday, 13 January 2011, to begin negotiations of broadcasting rights for the new agreement that will replace the current one which expires on 31 March 2011. SABC political editor Xolani Xundu has also been dismissed after failing to comply with his duties.
The negotiation teams that will meet on a weekly basis with the bigger team meeting bi weekly. They have also agreed to work together in pre-inspection teams before the games and this will start with the match in February 2011 in Rustenburg.
Political editor, Xolani Xundu has been dismissed with immediate effect, following the conclusion of his disciplinary hearing which started on 1 December 2010 and was finalised on 12 January 2011. He was charged with non-compliance with the duties of his contract and bringing the corporation into disrepute. He had pleaded guilty to both charges.
