Musi worked for several newspapers in Gauteng and Durban. He bagan his career at Drum magazine, then moved to the Rand Daily Mail until the newspaper was forced to close down.
He also worked at The World - the predecesor of Sowetan.
He was part of the top team that included Aggrey Klaaste, Joe Thloloe and Ike Magashule.
When The World was banned Musi moved to Durban, where he was a sub-editor for Ilanga lase Natal, Daily News and the Natal Mercury.
