SABC: 3rd time lucky in search for head of news?

NEWSWATCH: Snuki Zikalala was fired 13 months ago for allegedly favouring former president Thabo Mbeki and allegedly blacklisting some political commentators. Since then the post of head of news has been vacant, reports Times Live... so could this be a case of third time lucky? Meanwhile, South Africa's five metropolitan councils collectively owe the broadcaster a few million, and it wants to be paid, though Durban says it has settled its debt, reports IOL, which also reports that it won't be all light on the night if Eskom asks us to flick a switch or two.

  • Times Live: SABC hunts for news boss - again... You'd think that 13 months after Snuki Zikalala was fired, the broadcaster would have appointed a new, permanent head of news. Well, no, actually - they are looking again for someone to fill the post.
  • IOL: SABC payments have been made, says Durban... Durban says they don't owe the public broadcaster a cent.
  • IOL: One TV, one light... Eskom may ask South Africans to turn out their lights, bar one, when they watch TV during the World Cup, so it might not be all light on the night.
