SABC, BEMAWU agree on wages
![SABC, BEMAWU agree on wages](https://biz-file.com/c/0907/34293.jpg)
Both parties have agreed that the corporation will pay BEMAWU members and non-unionised staff members 8.5% back paid to 1 April 2009. The SABC will effect payment within five working days.
There are other issues that are provided for in the agreement for further negotiation, such as an additional 1.5% salary increment, which is subject to feedback from the Interim Board, and further discussions on another 2.2% salary increment.
The SABC is happy that it managed to find middle ground with BEMAWU and hopes that the Communications Workers Union (CWU) and the Media Workers Association of SA (MWASA) will be willing to engage management in ending the impasse on wage negotiations with both unions.
