Marc Hasenfuss returns to newsroom

Fin24 and Finweek editor-in-chief Marc Hasenfuss has expressed his intention to return to his first love, journalism, and will be relieved of administrative responsibilities at the titles, Fin24 announced this morning, Monday, 28 January 2008. His management responsibilities will be divided between David McKay, executive editor of Fin24.co.za, and Colleen Naude, Finweek executive editor.

Hasenfuss will, however, remain at Fin24. “While Marc's leadership is a loss to both titles, there is much benefit to be had in the reintroduction of his exceptional qualities as a journalist to our collective intellectual capital in the newsroom,” says Fin24 GM Rikus Delport.

During the past year, Fin24.co.za and Finweek have shown significant growth, says Delport, and he believes that the passing of leadership baton also heralds the next phase of the business development – to create a singular financial intelligence service brand, with a greater multi-platform product portfolio.

“I believe that under Colleen and David's leadership,” says Delport, “2008 will be another year of overachievement. This, coupled with our team of exceptional writers, will ensure that Finweek and Fin24 remain positioned as South Africa's top financial weekly and online publications.”
