SABC radio loses PSL rights

NEWSWATCH: Friday, 24 August 2007, certainly was eventful for South Africa's media. The SABC lost its radio rights to broadcast PSL matches, reports the Sunday Times, and also suspended its head of legal services, Mafika Sihlali, “pending a disciplinary enquiry after allegations of corruption and abuse of power were levelled against him”, according to The Times.

Meanwhile, the Mail & Guardian Online writes that judgement has been reserved by the Johannesburg High Court with respect to Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang/Sunday Times dispute.

Plus, conflicting statements were issued by the SA National Civic Organisation regarding the request that Sunday Times editor Mondli Makhanya be investigated by the National Prosecuting Authority for not applying for amnesty from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, reports IOL.
