Final reminder for 2006 Nat Nakasa Award nominations
Nat Nakasa was a prominent journalist and writer who died in exile. This annual award recognises any media practitioner - journalist, editor, manager or owner - who has:
- shown integrity and reported fearlessly
- displayed a commitment to serve the people of South Africa
- tenaciously striven to maintain a publication or other medium despite insurmountable obstacles
- resisted any censorship
- shown courage in making information available to the SA public
- any combination of the above.
If you think anybody fits this definition, please submit your nomination before 15 May 2006, accompanied by a motivation to:

The winner will receive R20 000.00 in prize money and a certificate, and will be announced at the Nat Nakasa Awards ceremony in East London on 09 July 2006.
Previous winners of this award are not eligible for entry. Previous winners are: Jon Qwelane (1998); Mzilikazi wa Africa (1999); Mathatha Tsedu & Wolfram Zwecker (2000); Mzilikazi wa Africa, Jessica Bezuidenhout and Andre Jurgens (2001); Justin Arenstein (2002); Debbie Yazbek (2003); Buks Viljoen (2004) and Alf Kumalo (2005).
The Award is organised by the Print Media SA's Media Freedom Committee, SANEF and the Nieman Society of Southern Africa.
