10 finalists bagged in Exclusive Books design competition

The recent nationwide challenge to South Africa's young designers to submit fresh concepts for national retailer Exclusive Books' distinctive shopping bags, has yielded a bounty of talent and 10 exceptional finalists, from design schools across South Africa.

The competition was open to all design students across South Africa. Each finalist will receive Exclusive Books gift vouchers to the value of R1000 and the grand prize is an Apple Mac I-Book and merchandise to the value of R20 000 and Exclusive Books gift vouchers to the value of R5000.

The competition forms part of the Exclusive Books Fanatics 10th anniversary celebrations this year, celebrating the success of the loyalty programme which has over 600 000 members.

Says Bridget Johnson, creative director from advertising agency, Ogilvy Johannesburg and one of the judges: “There was a wonderful variety of work submitted, showcasing a wealth of talent and different perspectives. There were designs of an extremely high standard, as well as ideas and approaches that are fresh and engaging.”

Says Batya Green-Bricker, Exclusive Books Marketing Manager: “Our shopping bag has an iconic status. It has been used and seen all over the world in many different hands. In keeping with Exclusive Books' mission, we strive to remain at the cutting edge of producing creative, innovative and thought-provoking ways of marketing our brand and this competition is one of the ways we want to achieve this”.
