NEWSWATCH: In the Supreme Court of Appeal yesterday, 20 June 2012, British American Tobacco lost its appeal against the banning of cigarette advertisements, reports Times Live.

It remains to be seen, however, what impact - if any - the ban will have on the number of people who smoke. Yes, there are people who have to be "saved from themselves" but the vast majority of people in this country are sensible and can actually think for themselves. Moreover, that's exactly what they want to be allowed to do.
A number of people have voiced concerns that SA is being turned into a nanny state. Here's hoping they are wrong, but...
