Changing humanity into a brand

Sean Inggs thinks of a way to brighten up your day, through the power of advertising.

So the year is 2002 and there are still no flying cars or Hilton hotels on Mars... don't worry maybe next year. To all the readers I hope this year is an exciting one that brings you many rewards!!!

Anyway, pleasure before business... I mean business before pleasure, so I better get started.

Over the past few months while watching CNN (yes the news service that always seems to show the bad side of SA when the camera is on), I kept noticing the Olympic Games adverts, "Celebrate Humanity".

I've seen the various ads for the Olympics and not all of them are great but the few that were, sparked an idea.

In a world where we are exposed to things that would've made a Viking blush and sometimes run away faster than Carl Lewis it's almost an art you have to have in order to stay positive and think how wonderful life really is... inbetween all the wars, terrorist attacks, rapes and family murders. And then pulling out the microscope on a national level you have the rich, the poor, the middle and all the other LSM's you know of, even some that you can imagine of and they all have one thing in common - they all got their problems. The secret is to not let it get to you but make life work for you, not you working for your life, because you aren't enjoying it then are you? Exactly.

So what I thought of was "feel good adverts". Adverts that are made in order to brighten your day, put that extra spring in it and make you realise you can accomplish anything you want to... because you're human. The ads must be emotional and truthful meaning at times even bringing a tear of happiness to the viewer.

Now I know I'm probably sounding like a Disney film writer but just think how the world would benefit. People would be more motivated to do their work and anything that got in their way they would know that they could get through it. From working hard there would be more effective and efficient work done bringing promotions and extra income to peoples pockets meaning more money to buy. Economies would climb and people would feel more united as a human race.

The adverts could be funded by an international body that selects the ads from various ad agencies that have been commisioned to create them and then distrubuted to various media to be released. One thing must be remembered though, these adverts are for showing humanity what they are capable of doing in a positive way and must not be twisted to sell a brand in anyway or else the effectiveness of the campaign would be a disaster as people would think there is a hidden agenda. The only brand in this case is the HUMAN BRAND.

Live your life. Work your passion.

Just an idea, use it, don't use it.
