It's time for the Roger Garlick Awards

Kicking off tomorrow, Saturday, 1 November 2008, is the call to entry for the Roger Garlick Awards, South Africa's own Cannes Media Lions that recognise exceptional innovation in the use of media.

Judges are once again in pursuit for entries with strong strategy as the underlying factor. Award categories include Best use of Television; Best use of Cinema; Best use of Radio; Best use of Magazine; Best use of Newspaper; Best use of Out of Home; Best use of Interactive (Web and mobile); Special Events / Stunts - including “never used before media”; Best use of Sponsorships and Multiple / mixed media.

In preparation for the 2009 Roger Garlick Awards, the AMASA meeting this November 2008 reviews the winning Cannes Media Lions of 2008. South African Media Lions judge, Jenny Barenbrug, planning director of Notabene Cape Town, will dissect what makes a great Cannes and Roger Garlick Media Award.

The annual Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, celebrating the crème de la crème of creativity in media and advertising, saw more than 10 000 advertising and media professionals from across the globe taking part this year, making the 2008 festival the biggest to date.
