OpenAdTalent award goes to British university

EUROPE: Manchester Metropolitan University was recently announced as the winner of the 2006/7 OpenAd.net international competition for young creatives. The contest, which has been running for two consecutive years, saw UNIACC, Chile, taking the runner-up position and Southampton Solent University, UK, finishing in third place.

Neil Grant, BA MFA, director of studies at the School of Design at Manchester Metropolitan University says: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the OpenAdTalent competition this year, particularly against such esteemed opposition. This is a fantastic boost to the students' confidence and not only a reward for their hard work but a verification of their talent and professionalism. The prize money awarded to the Design and Art Direction course is also very welcome and will contribute to the further success of the course.”

Manchester Metropolitan University will receive a prize of £2000, which goes towards its BA Design and Art Direction course, at an awards party to be held soon at OpenAd offices in London.

OpenAd.net created the contest in recognition of young talent around the world. Its core business links clients with an online community of over 9000 creatives in 122 countries – including students – to buy and sell advertising, marketing and design ideas.

The winning ideas and all the successful universities who made it onto the OpenAdTalent League Board can be viewed at www.openad.net/openadtalent/.
