New MD for Clio Awards

NEW YORK: In addition to Tony Gulisano’s appointment as MD of the international Clio Awards, one of the world’s most recognised global awards competition honouring creative excellence and innovation in advertising and design, the organisation has also entered into a relationship with Recognition Media, a leading producer of advertising and media industry awards shows, to produce the Clio Awards.

Tapped to oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of awards programme, now in its 48th year, Gulisano is among the most experienced in the field of advertising awards, having served with Clio for more than 25 years. Ami Brophy, executive director, has been retained to facilitate the transition.

“There’s clearly never been a more exhilarating time to be a part of the fast-changing advertising world, and we are committed to keeping Clio truly relevant as the industry changes,” says Gulisano.

New ideas and energy

Recognition Media, based in New York and Los Angeles and headed by Neil Vogel, CEO and Rodger Berman, president, serves as executive producer of The Webby Awards, which The New York Times has called the “Oscars of the Internet.”

In addition, the company also produces The Telly Awards, a premiere awards competition honouring American, regional and cable television commercials, TV programs, and video productions, and The Davey Awards, one of the largest competitions recognising outstanding creative work from the best small agencies and companies worldwide. Vogel and Berman will serve as co-executive producers of the Clios.

The 48th international Clio Awards Festival will be held 9-12 May 2007, in Miami Beach, Florida. Many events are planned, including the Lifetime Achievement Award and Advertiser of the Year presentations, creative workshops and seminars, two awards galas and screenings of the Clio TV Shortlist.
