Grand Clio in Miami but only Bronze at Loeries?

The 9November group of companies submitted 11 entries for the 2006 Loerie Awards, all of which reached finalist stage and seven of them were converted into Loeries. "Obviously, we are pleased with our conversion rate," comments Charl Nel, director of 9November. "But what is interesting is the fact that our Afro Magazine, which won the first-ever Grand Clio for South Africa in Miami, a Gold award at the One Show in New York as well as a D&AD nomination in London, won a Bronze at this year's Loeries."

Continues Nel, "On the other hand, a poster that did not win any international awards for us won a Gold Loerie. I don't know if it can be ascribed to the difference in the quality of the judges we have in South Africa or if there are other factors playing a role at the different award shows.

9November consists of Daddy Buy Me a Pony, Animit Digital and Cow Africa PR. Daddy Buy Me a Pony, the creative unit, won one Gold, one Silver and four Bronze awards, and Cow Africa PR won a Silver award and a Bronze award.

Nel is nevertheless pleased to be "probably the leading agency in terms of size and number of awards" at the 2006 Loeries festival.
