Are media agencies geared to handle online media?

Technology is changing the face of media. Today traditional platforms face increasing competition from an influx of innovative new media channels, such as Internet, SMS, blogs, email, podcasting, vlogs and Video on Demand. The July meeting of Advertising Media Association of South Africa (AMASA) will challenge the current approach to new media by asking: 'How do we best navigate this evolving multi-media landscape?'

Other questions at the meeting this week, 5 July 2006, will include: 'What is the industry doing to keep up? Are Media Agencies giving Online Media the attention it deserves?'

There will be a panel discussion exploring the relationship between media agencies, clients and ad agencies with regard to new media.

The panel will be chaired by Trevor Ormerod MD, Primedia @ Home. The panel will include Chris Borain, CEO of iAfrica.com and a member of the Online Publishers Association; Joanne Scholtz, director, MediaCompete and Astrid Ascar, GM: Content, M-Mobile.

AMASA's July meeting is sponsored by SABC

Date: 5 July 2006
