Zakumi is not representative of the majority of soccer lovers in South Africa

Zakumi lacks energy, township flair and he is out-of-touch with SA's youth culture - he cannot even dance.

The reality is that the 2010 World Cup mascot, Zakumi, is more of a surburban lad than a vibey, energetic, streetwise dude that many young soccer lovers are. He comes across as a Sandton/Parktown cheeseboy who cannot wow the South African crowds with his dancing skills and street walk. The mascot is just not cool! Zakumi does not stand any contest with Tube of SABC 2 who is loved by audiences all over South Africa because of his relevant, latest dancing styles popular with the majority of the youth of South Africa. After the World Cup we will forget he ever existed because he is boring even before the games had started. As things stand now, Zakumi stands a chance of being one of the worst mascots in World Cup history. To avoid humiliation, he must bear all the qualities and attributes of a township, streetwise, vibey, happaning, rocking and a dancing wizard youth. Soccer is loved by Blacks, particularly the youth, in South Africa therefore Zakumi must be representative of such youth's values and culture. We must see him wowing the crowds with the currently popular urban dances such as Durban kwasa, ingwazi, Break dance, hip-hop, isipansula, etc. If SAFA can find a body with such qualities to put behind that leopard, I can assure you that Zakumi will be the darling of South Africa before and after the World Cup 2010. By the way, this is an "African World Cup" but a South African responsibility. If Zakumi sucks, the disgrace will fully go to South Africa.
