Radio Discourse Continued - MUSIC

The process involved in choosing a song

Some radio stations (i.e. 94.7 Highveld Stereo) have a music committee that researches their target market in terms of what appeals to them at that particular point in time and then the recording/music companies submit their artists' new tracks that they believe are for instance 94.7 material and then the committee listens to the tracks after which they choose the songs they believe deserve to be on their playlist.

The process involves a certain computer program that they use which plays the first 20 to 30 seconds of a song, as well as the chorus after which the system gives a certain scoring that they will in turn use in their decision making process. I am, as you might imagine, not sure about the role of the Music Manager/Compiler in that regard.

Any more information on the other radio stations, preferably from a representative of that station, would be highly appreciated. Otherwise anyone with the know how is more than welcome to shed the light.
