The Board is usually the first to announce their list of award winners in this, the movie awards season (this is ahead of the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy Awards). The National Review Board was formed 95 years ago and comprises film historians, students and educators. The organization, which is usually the first to announce its top film picks each year, does not always select the same film to be their favourite as the eventual Academy Award winner.
In recent years, the National Board has chosen MYSTIC RIVER, THE HOURS, MOULIN ROUGE and QUILLS - none of which won the best-picture Oscar. In 1999, however, it matched up with the Oscars, picking AMERICAN BEAUTY.
The Board's Top 10 films in order are:

2. The Aviator
3. Closer
4. Million Dollar Baby
5. Sideways
6. Kinsey
7. Vera Drake
8. Ray
9. Collateral
10. Hotel Rwanda
