Japan Week in Sandton in March

Japan Week 2014, to be held inside Sandton City, will showcase architecture, artistic body painting, fascinating nail art, innovative hair products, the finest in music technology, home appliances, sportswear, personal computers, outdoor equipment, cameras, film, electronics, and more from 26-31 March 2014, all under one roof.

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a governmental agency designed to promote trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world, sponsors the event. Japan Week aims to educate and entertain consumers while also highlighting trade opportunities and partnerships between the two countries.

Kimihiko Inaba, executive director of JETRO Johannesburg says, "Japan Week provides a platform to increase business transactions between South Africa and Japan. Our event will showcase both already locally based Japanese brands, as well as newcomers to the marketplace."

    • Top Japanese architect Kengo Kuma's display of drawings, buildings and creations
    • Asics, producers of Springbok jerseys, will display its handiwork
    • Anest Iwata will demonstrate products for body art using professional airbrush artists and live airbrush demonstrations
    • Cal-Mo will provide nail art displays and demonstrations where visitors can get one nail professionally adorned with nail art
