Founded in 1998, Sportingbet PLC is listed on the FTSE 250 Index of the London Stock Exchange, reportedly making it one of the largest listed companies in the UK. It spans over 30 different markets, across Europe, Australia, Canada, South America and South Africa, with each product localised to recognise different languages and currencies and most importantly, to include betting opportunities around local events.

Netbet, the operator of Sportingbet SA, forms part of the Super-Brands group and states it is 100% legal and fully licensed by The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board to offer online sports betting/online bookmaking to SA citizens.
