Helen Graham has been appointed station manager of popular Capetonian radio station Good Hope FM. Graham has been 5fm's marketing manager for the past 18 months.She will assume her new position at Good Hope FM on 1 April 2004.
Commented Randall Abrahams, General Manager Commercial radio SABC: "It has taken some time to make this appointment as we were looking for an individual with both broadcast and management experience. In Helen we have found someone who meets both requirements, understands the SABC systems and is a hard worker. She takes over a strong team who will induct her into the Cape Town market where I am confident she will make an impact."
Said Graham on her new appointment: "I am really excited about working at Good Hope FM. The station already has a strong programming and marketing capacity and I look forward to building on this to strengthen Good Hope FM's position in the marketplace as Cape Town's #1 radio station."
Graham brings a wealth of radio experience with her to the mother city. At 5FM she was part of the management team that developed the new positioning for the station – 5FM Music - including their critically received above the line campaign.
Graham began her radio career at 5FM working with breakfast DJ Mark Gillman (a former Good Hope FM DJ himself), and in 2000 took over the Events portfolio on the station overseeing all of their numerous consumer activities before being appointed marketing manager.
Good Hope FM acting Station Manager Brendan Ficks will resume his Marketing Manager portfolio at the station. Completing the management team is programme manager Gerard Muller.
