Local jewellery competition for Pravda

Pravda Vodka, in partnership with the Jewellery Council of South African (JCSA), is searching for jewellery designs as part of the royal collection in a competition for South African jewellery designers. The competition, which closes on 2 May 2011, offers a R20 000 prize.

Emerging and established jewellery designers are invited to submit a maximum of six designs to JCSA for consideration. Each design must incorporate the symbolic blue Swarovski crystal featured on each bottle of Pravda Vodka.

The competition has two categories:

  1. Students and Apprentices / Learners - open to anyone studying art, design or jewellery manufacture at an established institute, college or art school in South Africa.
  2. Designers - open to practicing designers and manufacturers whose goods are offered for sale.

An expert panel of designers, technical experts and representatives from the fashion industry will judge the entries. The judges will select approximately 10 finalist pieces to be produced and then judged for the final prize. The overall winner and first place winners will be announced at the Jewellex awards evening in July 2011. The winner will receive R20 000 and each category's first place winner will receive R7500.

"For the 2011 competition, we want to give all jewellery designers the opportunity to push the boundaries of their creativity," says Lourens Mare, CEO of the JCSA. "We partnered with the brand because of its association with royalty and intrinsic brand values of purity, clarity and truth - something that fine jewellery always embodies."
