Caxton nabs a stake in Ramsay Son and Parker

Caxton has acquired a 30% interest in Ramsay Son and Parker, publishers of special interest media including CAR, Getaway, Wine, Compleat Golfer and Popular Mechanics. Ramsay Son and Parker was named Publisher of the Year by industry publication Advantage in 2005.

Chairperson Alan Ramsay says: "Control and management of the company will continue to rest with the present team, but this new association will provide considerable operating benefits and broad growth opportunities for mutual gain.

"We are looking forward to the involvement of our new colleagues at Caxton in the strategic planning for - and future growth of - our company, notably through Caxton's Terry Moolman and Gordon Utian joining our board.

"The South African economy is expanding rapidly and, while the competition among media owners for the 'share of eye and ear' is growing just as quickly, we believe there are still many opportunities to be addressed through joint initiatives by the dynamic group of people that make up our staff and stakeholders."

Gordon Utian, managing director of Caxton, says: "Opportunities abound and we are excited to be able to participate with our new colleagues in formulating and addressing new challenges to the benefit of both organisations."

Caxton, which is quoted on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange, is a successful publisher of newspapers and magazines and a leading quality commercial and book printer.

In addition to a number of community and regional newspapers, it publishes thirteen magazines, including Garden & Home, Rooi Rose, People and Vrouekeur and recently launched Woman & Home.
