Out of Home Media SA joins the ASA

The Out of Home Media SA (OHMSA) which is an outdoor media self- regulatory association representing in excess of 90% of the spend in this industry has been recently accepted as a member of the Advertising Standards Authority.

The OHMSA was established in June 2002, "after the major players in the industry recognised a need to have an association with a robust constitution that encompassed a broader spectrum of role players in the Out of Home media industry," commented Les Holley, the General Manager.

Holley further advised that the body's aim of joining the ASA is to ensure that the content of outdoor advertising is not objectionable, indecent or insensitive to any section of the public and that it complies with the rules as set out in the Code Of Advertising Practice.

Deline Beukes, Executive Director of the ASA added, "Having OHMSA as a member will strengthen the role of the ASA in regulating matters relating to outdoor advertising."
