Six European football matches per week on ESPN in sub-Saharan Africa
ESPN has reached an agreement with SuperSport for rights to televise two matches per week from Spain's La Liga, two matches per week from Italian Serie A and two matches per week from the German Bundesliga. The agreement means that ESPN will now feature six live European football matches per week for viewers across sub-Saharan Africa on DStv Channel 230.

The agreement comes as the company also just announced the launch of its global multimedia football brand, ESPNFC, covering all major leagues and competitions worldwide. It includes a revamped and expanded site online and on mobile (both mobile web and the ESPNFC app) which provide fans with the in-depth coverage and commentary, news, video, audio, statistics, the capability to get personalised information on their favourite leagues and teams and more.
On TV, its popular daily football debate and discussion show becomes ESPNFC PressPass which will continue to inform and entertain fans across Africa and globally. The football show that looks at the global game with a global perspective features panellists and contributors from around the world of football - including Shaka Hislop, Robbie Mustoe, Steve Nicol, Frank LeBoeuf and Jorge Ramos. Reflecting the cross-platform nature of the brand, both TV and digital content will be heavily integrated to highlight major club news and analysis across all screens.
"Serving football fans better"
Murray Barnett, vice president of sports channels and syndication, ESPN EMEA, said, "We are delighted with this new agreement with SuperSport which is part of the company's ongoing efforts to serve football fans better on the DStv platform."
The European football coverage for viewers in Africa and the launch of the new global multimedia football brand highlight its commitment to the global game and to serving fans in Africa and around the world.
The expanded schedule of European football coverage adds to the company's wide variety of sport that includes NBA basketball, major league baseball, NFL gridiron football, major league soccer, X games, US open tennis and more.
