“This initiative by the SABC demonstrates our unwavering commitment to our vision of ‘Broadcasting for Total Citizen Empowerment', and as the SABC we will continue to create ways of empowering our citizens, through our regional offices, initiatives and programmes,” said SABC Group CEO AdvDali Mpofu.
The repositioning of the office will translate into job creation both internally and externally to make it a productively functioning SABC regional office. Externally it will aid through business opportunities for the local community, which is expected to impact positively on the local economic development.
In addition, services provided by the SABC to the public, such as the opportunity to pay TV licence fees, the buying of advertisement airtime on radio and TV programmes and sound recordings, will be more accessible to the public in that region as they will not have to travel to Johannesburg in order to access these services.
