A statement from the organisation's board of trustees, due to hold an introductory breakfast meeting earlier this week, said they had identified gross fragmentation among marketing professionals due to lack of a networking facility, and that the economy required the development and implementation of marketing strategies through an interactive platform.
“The image of the profession has been tarnished especially by infiltrators emerging from other professions claiming underserved marketing positions,” the trustees said.
They said MAZ would make sure “that outstanding marketing is learnt, recognised and implemented to the highest level for business sustainability and the development of the economy at large”.
MAZ outlined its objectives as follows:
Membership of the organisation would be drawn from all those working in the supporting fields of marketing management as well as retired marketing professionals who still had a keen interest in marketing management.
Full membership is open to any person who has attained a qualification from a tertiary institution or any institution/college majoring in marketing management, as well as to people without such qualifications but able to prove to the board of trustees that they have been in marketing leadership for at least five years.
Corporate membership is open to any organisation, corporation, enterprise or company registered and operating in Zimbabwe. Contact Ruth Ncube, corporate affairs director for First Mutual Limited on , tel +263 4 850325, fax +263 4 886037 or mobile +263 11 603903/912 376067.
