Honouring successful students

Palesa Makoti, former Rainbow Star School learner and top achiever for 2009 was the guest speaker at the function held at Cape Education District Office for the 22 Worcester matriculants who passed, out of 28.
"When we compare these maths and science results with the national results of 47.4% and 47.8% respectively, it is evident that our Star School programme is making a substantial difference to learners," says Warren Farrer, Rainbow's corporate communications manager. "We are proud of the 79% pass rate, an improvement from last year's 76%."
The programme was launched in KwaZulu Natal five years ago and in Worcester in 2009. Apart from receiving extra tuition in maths, science and English during weekends and school holidays, learners receive a 10 kg pack of Rainbow Chicken at the end of each term. The programme was launched in Rustenburg in 2010.
