Collective effort puts sparkle into annual diamond party

The event organised was the companies’ annual party, called ‘The Dragon Boat Party’, arranged to coincide with the 2007 Mining Indaba held in Cape Town at the CTICC.

Staged aboard the Sea Princess, the Waterfront Boat Company’s 74 ft luxury, high-speed catamaran, the party was literally a red carpet affair where guests approached the boat from a red carpeted jetty and boarded to the soothing strains of the Sammy Webber Band.

The rest of the evening’s entertainment programme included gumboot dancers, a metal ramba band and flame throwers, while Lady Luck favoured two lucky guests to each win a diamond pendant, sponsored by their generous hosts.

Philippa Thompson, Loudfire’ project manager on the event, comments: “It was an exhilarating experience to participate in the production of this event. The three production teams, comprising our client the Waterfront Boat Company, ourselves and SMD Technical, worked very well together, resulting in a picture perfect party that was thoroughly enjoyed by all aboard.”

Loudfire’s involvement in producing the party included providing the décor and food experiences as well as providing furniture and staffing the event, while SMD took care of the technical and entertainment aspects.
