TechSmart launches new annual, reviews look, circulation

TechSmart is upgrading its magazine look with better paper and cover, launching an SME annual guide and reducing its copy wastage with streamlined distribution.
TechSmart launches new annual, reviews look, circulation

This month, it launched the glossy 2011 annual TechSmart SME Guide, which focuses on helping small to medium sized enterprises make better IT decisions. It has a circulation of 10 000, delivered directly to small to medium businesses and channel distributors on its distribution list. Suzanne Rall, print media manager of Smart Publishing, its publisher says, "We are proud to offer to SME readers what we've always offered South African consumers: free information and qualified advice to assist with their important tech choices."

According to Mike Joubert, editor of TechSmart, the change in paper quality gives the magazine a sleek new look and feel. "While the magazine is known for quality content, the new paper and cover bring the look closer to that of shelf magazines."

Streamline its effectiveness

To offset the higher printing costs, a close look was given to the distribution of the magazine in an effort to streamline its effectiveness. "We are now paying less attention to school deliveries, while also minimising the amount of magazines left over at the end of the month," said Renier van Vuuren, distribution manager of Smart Publishing. It will now have a print run of 75 000 copies per month.

The publishers will produced a new business focused publication, TechSmart@Work in February 2012. Through its 20 000 copies, it will offer B2B ITC to its readers, distributed via its specialised business distribution network.
