Madiba Action is a vibrant and diverse magazine packed with interesting people profiles, success stories, investment opportunities and travel features. It aims to capture the true essence of Eastern Cape living and contains valuable information on the demarcation of the Eastern Cape, its borders, districts and main centres. Offering investment and tourism information, it is read by foreigners and locals and is used by key decision and policy makers as a tool to proudly promote the Eastern Cape.
Like her father, first Eastern Cape premier Raymond Mhlaba, executive director Nomawethu Mhlaba holds the people of the province close to her heart. She and editor Traci Mackie share a vision for the Eastern Cape of uplifting its people by positively promoting the province.
"Contrary to what some might think, there are many good news stories about our province that need to be told," says Mackie. "And Eastern Cape Madiba Action magazine has been doing just that since 2003 - the only problem being that thousands of copies were distributed out of the province in an attempt to bring tourists and investors into the Eastern Cape."
The publication was previously distributed through the diplomatic mail bag to SA foreign missions and through advertisers and sponsors. It is trusted by advertisers with an 80% to 90% repeat business but was not well-known to the general public.
"The company is now challenged to position the magazine as the authoritative and credible word on the Eastern Cape and bring it right to the people of the province as well as to tourists and key stakeholders in tourism and economic development."
The "Flying High" winter issue of Madiba Action is now on-shelf. It celebrates the vision of people from the province who have carved a global path to success.
This definitive Eastern Cape guide focuses on five key areas: lifestyle and leisure, investment, economic development, environmental and tourism news.
Eastern Cape Madiba Action is an English language publication with a circulation of 100 000 and a readership of 300 000. It is sold bi-annually (May/November) at R14.95 each including 14% VAT. The size of the publication is 170mm x 225mm ('Glamour' size) and it sports a UV varnished cover. An ABC registration is pending.
