Uitenhage Street Carnival date change

The Uitenhage Street Carnival date has been moved and it will now be held in April - starting from next year, 2011.
Uitenhage Street Carnival date change

The carnival has been a year-end event for the past 22 years and has been managed by the Rotary. For the past two years, the UDDI (Uitenhage Despatch Development Initiative) has been managing the event.

The vision of the UDDI and its partners is to build the carnival brand and to grow it to one that enjoys national status. The greater success of the carnival in the past two years is testimony that the UDDI is well on their way to achieving this ambitious vision.

A number of factors have been taken into consideration which led the UDDI to take the decision to change the carnival date. Strategically this is the best decision which will beneficially serve the stakeholders concerned as the event will be bigger and better.

The new date will be tested as a pilot and will be reviewed as to determine whether this is in fact the optimum date; if not and it is found that the year-end date is best, the carnival is likely to revert to that date.
