OmniVision gets SA's Top End Families to say “Cheese!”

OmniVision, a qualitative marketing research firm based in Cape Town, will be taking a good look at South Africa's flourishing families; from their shifting family values and financial priorities to what's on the dinner-table and in kids' lunchboxes.

OmniVision's core belief is that it is not what people say but how they say it that leads to true insight. They capture authentic consumer dialogue on camera and the majority of the interviews are conducted in people's homes. For this particular series they will be arming consumers with disposable camera's and getting them to photograph what's on the dinner table and, imagine the kids faces when they are asked to photograph the contents of their lunchboxes! The significance of this approach is that it provides clients with firsthand visual feedback on how their brands and categories are being interacted with on a day to day basis. OmniVision director, Jacqui Stammers explained, “This type of research is invaluable in producing the insight gems that our clients are looking for and often the visual experience combined with the team's ‘big thinking' approach leads to those ‘a-ha' moments that every marketer dreams about.”

Top End Families will be the fifth exciting series run by the company. The series are syndicated and four clients are taken on board at a time and cover a range of target markets that are pertinent to marketers. OmniVision has completed work for various blue chip clients including KFC, Simba, Old Mutual, Bokomo, Distell and Ceres Fruit Juices. The series provide clients with insights on the trends and tipping points in the market as well as a visual montage of their homes and lifestyle priorities. Clients are then able to explore their specific brands within the given market segment.

Woolworth's marketing research manager's comment about the Black Affluent series was, “Absolutely brilliant! OmniVision has given us fantastic results and any company who does not get on board is missing out.”
