SAARF Research Symposium for Sandton

The South African Advertising Research Foundation's (SAARF's) 4th annual media research symposium takes place at the Crowne Plaza, Sandton, on Wednesday 8 October this year.

Making the announcement, Dr Paul Haupt, managing director of SAARF said, "We have added a free 'bonus session' to the usual one-day event this year. This will give interested delegates the opportunity to come to SAARF on the day after the Symposium to interact at length with the presenters and question them on all aspects of their papers, and to network with colleagues."

Haupt continued with more good news - the cost per delegate will be the same as last year, despite the benefit of the additional session and the usual illustrious presenters.

Keynote speaker will be Tony Jarvis, senior vice president and director of the Strategic Insights Group at Grey Global Group's Mediacom in the United States, where he is widely known in the media research community as 'Mr. Fusion'. He will present two papers, one on media optimizers and one on the future of media research measurement methodologies.

He will be supported by other renowned speakers, including the first African to present a paper at the Symposium, Tendai Mhitzha, CEO of Research International Zimbabwe, who will speak on 'The use of LSMs in Africa'. Tendai recently completed a Masters degree on LSMs and is currently enrolled for a PhD on the same topic.

Other interesting topics that will be addressed are statistical fusion, the challenges of TV measurement in the light of new technological developments, the electronic measurement of Outdoor and Radio and from Poland, an interesting paper on their readership survey.

Delegates may register at the SAARF website www.saarf.co.za where further information is posted, including a preliminary programme.
