Packaging industry receives new guide

The guide offers a realistic look at sustainable packaging. Interviews with high-level professionals, who successfully integrated sustainability as a corporate goal, are presented alongside practical case histories and a comprehensive list of resources. Written by sustainable packaging journalist Steve Sterling, the field guide has been acclaimed by industry thought leaders, including John Delfausse, Vice President of Package Development at The Estee Lauder Companies, who wrote the foreword to this 80-page publication.
Scott Vitters, Director of Sustainable Packaging at the Coca-Cola Company offers his review: "One of the greatest challenges facing companies looking to advance the sustainability of their packages is the absence of guidance and inspiration. Steve Sterling's field guide offers a practical resource for better understanding the fundamentals of sustainable packaging and learning from the experiences of others. Whether just starting out or a seasoned veteran on the journey to sustainability, this book is a valuable read."
Brad Menees VP, Technology and Development, R&D at Campbell's Soup Company calls the guide "a must read for both veterans and newcomers to the package development process."
Packaging World VP/Publisher, Joe Angel, points out that the Packaging World editorial team was instrumental in promoting the forward-thinking concepts in William McDonough and Michael Braungart's 2002 book, Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things. "Our Field Guide offers a realistic view of sustainable packaging issues and, like Cradle to Cradle, we're confident it will spark discussions throughout the packaging community. Sustainable packaging is not a fad, but a business process for the future."
