Ster-Kinekor Distribution congratulates the SA movie industry

Ster-Kinekor Distribution congratulates Darryl Roodt, Videovision and everyone involved in the making of YESTERDAY on the Academy Award nomination of this film in the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year category.

This nomination is of particular importance as this is the first time ever that a South African film has been nominated for an Academy Award. This shows that the South African film industry has come of age.

Ster-Kinekor Distribution is proud to be a part of this process and to show its confidence in the industry, will be releasing nine local films in 2005. These films are:

MAX AND MONA (releases 4 March) starring Mpho Lovinga and Jerry Mofokeng; this is the Teddy Mattera's first feature film.

THE FLYER (releases 8 April) stars Marcel Van Heerden and newcomer Ian Van Der Heyden.

SOLDIERS OF THE ROCK (releases 6 May) directed by Norman Maake and was produced under the auspices of AFDA. This is the first feature film to be made by South African students.

IN MY COUNTRY (releases 24 June) stars Menzie Ngubane in a leading role alongside international heavyweights Samuel L. Jackson and Juliette Binoche.

ZULU LOVE LETTER (releases 29 July) stars Pamela Nomvete and is the second feature film By Ramadan Suleman.

Also to be released this year are the following titles: TSOTSI, CRAZY MONKEY, No. 10, and A BOY CALLED TWIST.

Worthy of mention is that MAX AND MONA and TSOTSI are both in South African vernacular as is YESTERDAY.

No.10 IS THE NEXT PROJECT OF DARRYL ROODT, DIRECTOR OF YESTERDAY.
