Google experiment good or bad news for publishers?

Google Labs released an experimental service for reading articles quickly online yesterday, Tuesday, 15 September 2009. Web application Fast Flip is intended to let users discover and share news articles by combining the qualities of print and web... But is this good or bad news for publishers?

http://fastflip.googlelabs.com is described as an experiment with its publishing partners to offer news, feature stories, opinion pieces and other journalism from more than three dozen publishers including the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Washington Post, Salon, Fast Company, ProPublica and Newsweek.

The ability to "flip" through pages online as ‘quickly as flipping through a magazine” is supposed to allow users to follow friends and topics, discover new content and create their own custom magazines around searches.
