Sentech extends MyWireless reach with partners

South Africans will be able to buy Sentech's MyWireless Internet connectivity from a growing list of approved Sentech partners following the announcement Monday, of the implementation Sentech's partnership programme. Experienced retail operations at some of the country's top Internet and cellular shops will sell the MyWireless packages as part of their product offering to consumers.

As reported in Bizcommunity.com, Sentech has been overwhelmed with the demand for their services and received somewhat of a backlash from potential users regarding its customer service and client support, so this partnership strategy will hopefully address negative perceptions in the market.

"It's a win-win situation," says Pragasen Nagan, General Manager of Sales at Sentech. "We have teamed up with Internet Solutions, Autopage Cellular and NoWire Technologies, as a way of reaching more customers as demand for wireless broadband technology grows. Consumers now have access to a greater number of value added services and the partners are able to offer a broader range of solutions and packages to subscribers," he says.

Sentech has appointed partners that have extensive retail, reseller experience and a track record in providing Internet services, wireless broadband services and cellular operations. "Autopage is a big player in the cellular environment and will add the MyWireless product into its existing offerings. Internet Solutions is a major player in the corporate Internet service provision market and is a cornerstone in the virtual ISP market. NoWire is involved in the systems integration of the platform of MyWireless and provides various technological solutions and peripherals. Other types of partners include value added partners, sales agents and distributors. Most of these Value Added Partners will use an extensive grid of sales channels and partners."

Sentech is selling services via their website, call centre and its own sales force in order to give more choice to customers, however, in a brave move, Nagan admits that the decision to partner with these companies was because they have extensive retail experience..."it's not our core competency".

MyWireless is the delivery of broadband, high-speed, portable Internet services over the air instead of by traditional fixed lines. For users, it means their computers don't have to be tethered to any wire connection in order to use the Web or to send and receive emails. It's convenient and cost-effective. It's not a satellite link – signals are sent and received via terrestrial base stations. If you are in the coverage footprint, you can use the service in Gauteng and soon in Durban and Cape Town, where rollout is underway.
