New journalism award for students
Marie Claire South Africa has launched a new student journalism competition, the Marie Claire Excellence in Journalism Award, for students at any University or College offering photography, media studies or journalism accreditation in South Africa.
The winner stands the chance of winning a whirlwind international trip courtesy of Holiday Planners; a complete mobile office and furniture worth more than R30 000 - courtesy of Samsung, Hewlett Packard and Dauphin; and the opportunity to see his or her work published in Marie Claire South Africa.
Suzy Brokensha, editor of Marie Claire SA, says: "We are extremely excited about this competition as it will give students the opportunity to kick-start their journalistic careers.
"We have some amazing writers in this country and every effort should be made to identify new talent and giving them the opportunity to have their work published. The aim of the award is to nurture a culture of excellent news reporting in South Africa and to encourage excellent journalism among students."
