Parliament agrees to shortlisting
Meanwhile, Business Day reports that “[a]ll political parties represented on Parliament's communications committee have agreed to short list at least five of the 141 nominations for membership of the new board of the SABC”.
Twelve new board members need to be proposed, which, after endorsement by Parliament, has to be approved by President Thabo Mbeki.
Once shortlisted, interviewing of candidates will begin and it is hoped that the process will be finished by the end of September, enabling a handover period as the new board is due to start operating at the beginning of 2008. For more, click here.
