2011 CIT:Y awards attracts more student entries

Entrants, who are enrolled for an arts qualifications at any of the City's tertiary education institutions, stand to win a bursary of between R20 000 and R30 000 based on the standard of the works or performances they submit for the awards.

The judges are Glenda Venn and Christopher Gough Palmer (graphic design and textile design), Peter McKenzie and Debbie Yazbek (photography), Nicky Blumenfeld and Joe Nina (music), Gladys Agulhas and PJ Sabbagha (dance), Gary Oberholzer and Stan Bodibe (broadcasting), Kerry Liss and Glenn Ewan (animation) and Antoinette Murdoch and Khwezi Gule (visual arts).

This year, the participating institutions are AFDA, Artist Proof Studios, Boston Media House, Central Johannesburg College, Damelin College, Greenside Design Centre, Imbali Visual Literacy Project, Market Photo Workshop, Moving into Dance Mophatong, NEMISA, University of Johannesburg, University of the Witwatersrand and Vuyani Dance Theatre.

A curated exhibition of the best works will form part of the City's Arts Alive International Festival, from 25 August to 30 September 2011.
