    Re-branded Ramsay's new logo

The recently re-named RamsayMedia appointed Berge Farrell to produce a fresh identity for the 75-year-old family-owned media company.

RamsayMedia managing director Stuart Lowe explains that the new company name reflects both the company's heritage and its future focus, and the new corporate identity needed to do the same.

"We have four generations of experience, trust and respect behind the name, which we retain in the ‘Ramsay' of RamsayMedia. Yet, at the same time we have evolved into multi-platform media owners, which includes magazines, digital and mobile initiatives, our newly launched TV and video production division, events, exhibitions and other ventures.”

Says Berge Farrell managing director Andrew Nel: “Working with a brand with such a long and proud history is a real privilege, but also really challenging, in terms of finding a solution that simultaneously speaks of the past and the future.”

The new RamsayMedia corporate identity is an evolution of the old RS&P square, formed by the letter ‘r' and its reverse. Viewed together, the two letters are reminiscent of traditional picture crops, which aim to recall the company's strong history in the print business, but they also bring to mind an aperture or shutter, alluding to the digital future of the company.

Commenting on the response to the new identity, Lowe remarks that it has been nothing short of “extraordinary”.

“Every stakeholder in RamsayMedia has been overwhelmingly positive about the new identity. From the board and our shareholders to our staff and clients, the new graphic icon has resonated with everyone in a really short space of time.

“It is testament to Berge Farrell's approach and processes that the transition from our 75-year old branding to our new corporate identity has been such a positive and successful experience. The launch of the new CI has punctuated a period of substantial change for the business and created wonderful energy with which we will drive further innovations as a multi-platform media owner,” Lowe concludes.
