Free filmmaker workshops at Multichoice Vuka! Awards 2003

Newcomer and aspirant filmmakers are invited to attend the Multichoice Vuka! Awards 2003 workshops in May.

MultiChoice has announced that the MultiChoice VUKA! Awards, its fifth such initiative to encourage the making of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for television, will launch this May.

Open to newcomers and professionals, the MultiChoice VUKA! Awards exist to breathe a spirit of generosity into the South African film and advertising industry, to showcase our professional talent, to nurture young blood and to spread a message of hope to DStv viewers.

MultiChoice does this through the free flighting of PSAs on selected DStv channels a PSA is a commercial produced for a registered charity, non-government agency or a good cause or belief.

To find out the difference between a PSA that works and one that doesn¹t, and whether the message in your PSA make a difference, we invite you to attend the free MultiChoice VUKA! Awards workshops, to be held nationwide in May.

The workshops include an inspirational and critical analysis of international and local PSAs, as well as interactive comparisons of different creative interpretations of PSAs with similar messages. Breakaway groups in the workshops involve conceptualising 'a good idea¹ and making a storyboard, shot list and director¹s treatment, then presenting to colleagues at the workshop.

To book (workshops are free) or for more information, please call Julie Coghlan, Beth Tindall or Thora Matekane on (021) 426-0180; email or visit www.vuka.multichoice.co.za
