The Shame of Fools

Whoever did the “Quad Squad” campaign; you deserve to be in a wheelchair. Who in their right mind takes a project like National Disabled Day and turns it into something resembling a lucky packet competition?

On a professional level…

I’d love to meet the idiot who decided that the best way to solve this problem was to take the “Quad” out of quadriplegic and use it with the word “Squad”. Just because something rhymes doesn’t make it right. What were you thinking? That people in wheelchairs travelled in packs? What is the justification of the use of the word “Squad”? I’d love to know. Secondly, why on God’s green earth is the logo done to resemble the emblem on superman’s chest? Is it some kind of sick insider joke? And then you decide that because it’s for “Quads” you’re going to give away a “Quad” Bike? I hope you languish for the rest of your natural existence in the pits of retail hell, I hope your next job is proof reading phone books and writing apology notes for the apartheid government and I hope that if there is a God he takes away your ability to write and draw so that you may never pollute the earth again with your brain farts.

On a personal level…

Having grown up with a father in a wheelchair, and being in advertising myself, it saddens me to see something that should have uplifted people and renewed respect for them, fail so dismally. Can you honestly look someone in the eye and say that referring to people in wheelchairs as members of the “Quad Squad” is going to get them the respect they deserve? I’m surprised you didn’t call them the “Wheelies” or the “Crippled Clan” as those are just as bad as this filth you’ve draped across our shopping malls. My father, for forty years, got up at 6 in the morning and dragged himself through his own personal hell so he could go to work and pay for me to study advertising and do what I want in this life. How dare you mock that. How dare you not do the work these people deserve. And how dare you turn this into a joke. I hope you rot.
