Newspaper for Mpumalanga youth

In less than six weeks, youth in the Mpumalanga province will have a monthly business and lifestyle newspaper aimed at helping them to plan, start and advance their businesses. Mpuma Youth Biz (Mpumalanga Youth Business) will be on the shelves as of 1 September 2008.

The newspaper will retail for R2.00 a copy; however, the debut issue and the other three issues that will be published this year will be available free of charge. Only from January 2009 will the publication will be sold.

Mpuma Youth Biz is owned by the Mpumalanga-based Divine Africa Multimedia Connexion, a company that deals with multimedia productions.

The publication is divided into three sections - business, lifestyle and entertainment - covering matters relating to marketing, handling finances, seminar and workshop information. “We do not have a publication that strictly caters for youth in our province currently. We did our research, and most of the young people that we interacted with said they would welcome a publication of this nature because there is a need for it in the province,” says Centino Devine, editor and founder of Mpuma Youth Biz.

Furthermore, Divine says a lot of young people wanting to start their own businesses do not know where to go and how to start. “That is why we saw a need to start a publication of this nature, a content hub not only for the young people who are still starting but also for those who have been around. Mpuma Youth Biz will strive to bring business experts' and industry thought leaders' advice.”

“Content is not going to be restrictive to the youth market only, but will delve into the grown and more mature market as it involves some prominent business figures within the business circle,” concludes Devine.

The launch of the magazine will be supported by a tactical aggressive marketing campaign and a possible broadcasting partnership with one of the local radio stations.
