New flavour for Niknaks
First up is Cape Town on 26 July, with two free shows taking place at the Thusong Centre in Khayelitsha - one at 10am, and another at 2pm. In the morning, catch rapper Nveigh (aka Nik the Nak) and Selimathunzi presenter Kaos in action with a host of giveaways, and will be among the first in the country to sample the new Niknaks flavour.
DJ Cyndo will be on the decks and kwaito kingpin L'Vovo will be driving the crowd wild as models hit the ramp for a Niknaks-tastic fashion show.
As part of the roadshow, several Khayelitsha high schools have been invited to design their own outfits, with the best outfit from each school being made by local seamstresses before being modelled at the fashion show.
This is a chance to check out our talented young designers of tomorrow, as they vie for top honours. The best three designers will win Edgars gift vouchers to the value of R3000, R1000 and R500 respectively, and have their creations showcased in a fashion shoot on the pages of Move magazine.
After the morning's activities, the afternoon show cranks up at 2pm, with Kaos and Nveigh once again getting the party moving. This is where things will really start pumping, with an exciting ‘rap-off' between Cape Town's top rappers.
The audience will help decide who's the best hip-hop head in town, as Driemanskap, Rettax, ILL_Skillz, Molemi, Nqikilitye, DJ Mbacu, DJ Ndlovukazi, DJ Diriri, DJ Sive and DJ Makhekhe face off in a bid to out-play, out-rap and out-last the rest.
Entrance to both shows is free, but only high school students between the ages of 13 - 19 years old are allowed to attend. People are asked to bring along an item of clothing to donate to charity. There will be a strong security presence and no alcohol will be allowed.
After Cape Town, the Niknaks Road show cruises to Mondeor High School in Johannesburg on 2 August, before wrapping up at the State Theatre in Pretoria on 16 August.
