Karoo Kunstefees selects De Krans wines for festival

The 18th ABSA Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK), which takes place from 31 March to 7 April 2012 in Oudtshoorn, has selected De Krans exclusive range of wines as the official wine supplier for this year's festival.

De Krans Wines, situated in Calitzdorp along the popular Route 62, will be available at all the official festival 'water' holes, which will include the River district at the You/Huisgenoot Day Stage, as well as their Top 40 and Night Stages, Al Capone and PieterCelia's at the ABSA Civic Centre.

According to winemaking team and brothers, Boets and Stroebel Nel, they were honoured that a wine producer from the Klein Karoo region was granted pouring rights at this popular festival. They are also confident that visitors to the KKNK will enjoy the range of good quality wines, reaffirming the Klein Karoo as one their favoured wine producing regions.

De Krans is one of the oldest wine farms in the Little Karoo and, for the last four consecutive years, has walked away with the title of Champion Wine Cellar at the Southern Cape Bottled Wine Show. De Krans produces a wide spectrum of wines, ranging from excellent value for money wines to exceptional quality wines and ports, which over the years has been awarded prestigious accolades, including Veritas double gold medals, Best Value Awards as well as 5-star ratings in Platter's South African Wine Guide. The Garden Route range of wines is also produced at De Krans from cool climate grapes originating from the Waboomskraal area in the Outeniqua Mountains also situated in the Little Karoo.

Most of the wines in the De Krans range will be available for tasting and purchasing at the ABSA Wine Hall during the festival. Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to sample the port wines of De Krans as part of a Belgium chocolate and port pairing at the Oudtshoorn Wijnhuis presented by Marita Lamprecht, well known chocolatier from Oudtshoorn, and Cape Wine Master, Junel Vermeulen.
