Behind the scenes on Backstage
Morris is also co-producer - together with Moose Thabethe - of e.tv's newsroom drama, Scandal. Opperman's appointment will free Morris to focus on increasing the ratings for Scandal in its new 7.30pm slot.
e.tv channel director Bronwyn Keene-Young said that Opperman's appointment was part of e.tv's strategy to invest more resources in its local dramas: "Our daily soaps are central to our plan to grow market share in prime time. Increasing the creative resources available to each show will enable us to compete more effectively in this highly contested genre.
"Since January, we have seen a recovery in the audience ratings under Clive Morris Productions. Deon Opperman's company Bottom Line Entertainment is coming on board to focus on Backstage, while Clive Morris focuses on Scandal."
